The First Trimester Ultrasound Course Included Theory, Demos, and Hands-On Practice on Volutracer O.P.U.S. simulators

Bangalore Fetal Medicine Centre and Apollo Centre for Fetal Medicine partnered with Empower-US to organize a two-day hands-on first trimester ultrasound course: “Hands-On Simulation Course – Ultrasound Skill Enhancement”. The program took place on May 15th and 16th at the Bangalore Fetal Medicine Centre, in Bangalore, India.

The course organizers and scientific leads, Dr. Prathima Radhakrishnan and Dr. Anita Kaul, used transabdominal and transvaginal scans on Volutracer O.P.U.S. simulators to lecture. The course curriculum was designed for doctors who wished to acquire or enhance ultrasound diagnostic skills when performing obstetric scans, addressing:

  1. Basics of ultrasound knobology (ultrasound image optimization by hand).
  2. Methodology.
  3. Image optimization.
  4. Principles of screening.
  5. How to take critical measurements and progress systematically to cover important aspects of the Fetal Medicine Foundation’s (FMF UK) First Trimester Screening as relevant to its practice in India.
